Since Gilbert is so small it might seem boring, but the lively people here wouldn’t let that happen. The community is very centered around the youth, and you see everyone pitching and helping. Be it sports, band, choir, you name it the people are ready to make it better. They are so dedicated to helping that Gilbert has even helped with the MakeAWish foundation to help their very own students.

DINING, SHOPPING, AND ENTERTAINMENT

Again, the small town finds a way to have what you want in a community. Dining is handled with a nice cafe called the Vault to cover you morning and lunch followed by the open flame to bring you a tasty dinner. The proximity to Ames makes Gilbert a great small town to live in, while still being close enough to the wonderful amenities Iowa State University has to offer.

THINGS TO DO

Residents of Gilbert have found many ways to keep themselves busy. Aside from volunteer work, Gilbert allows for many hobbies. There are many soccer and baseball fields open to the public that are intertwined with the pathways for those who like to bike or run. You can catch some community 5ks for fundraisers where residents of all ages partake and enjoy the fun!
